Know what you're walking into.
The assessment is the longest thing we ask of you and the stage where most applicants are turned away. So here is all of it up front — which one to take, how long it runs, what it looks at, and what happens next.
Four assessments. Take the one for your role.
The portal opens on a list and the names do not always match the job you read about. This is the map.
Virtual Assistant
Remote administrative support, guest communication, and booking management.
Hospitality candidates take this one — guest messaging and bookings are part of it.
Rental Cleaner
Property cleaning, turnover preparation, quality standards, and working unsupervised.
An Atlanta on-site role. There is no separate page for it yet — the assessment is the way in.
Maintenance Tech
Property repairs, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
Available in English and Spanish — switch languages at the top of the portal.
U.S. College Intern
AI tools, building with code, and process improvement for property management.
The portal calls it U.S. College Intern. It is the same program as TruPorch Fellows.

It is an hour of your life.
We are asking a stranger for the better part of an hour before anyone here has spoken to them. That is a real thing to ask, so we would rather you decide with the number in front of you than find out halfway through.
It tests thinking, not trivia.
How you reason
We give you something you have not seen and watch how you take it apart. The path matters more than the answer.
How clearly you write
Most of this job is written. If your reader has to work to understand you, that is the finding.
How you handle unfamiliar
Every role here meets a situation the standard does not cover. We want to see what you do at that moment.
What it does not test.
- Real-estate knowledge. If you already had it, we would not need the Academy.
- A degree, or which one. It is not asked and it is not scored.
- Trick questions. Everything asked is something the work genuinely requires.
- Typing speed, or anything you could cram for the night before.
There is nothing to study.
You cannot revise for this, and anyone selling you a prep course for it is taking your money. Four things still help.
Do it in one sitting
Rushed answers read as rushed, and that is usually all we learn from them. Block the time properly.
Somewhere quiet, on a stable connection
A dropped connection midway is the most common avoidable problem. Use the best one you have.
Write like yourself
Clear and honest beats polished and borrowed. We can tell the difference, and we prefer the first one.
Do not revise for it
There is nothing to revise. Sleep, food, and an unhurried hour will do more for your score than study will.
What happens next.
You finish
Your responses go to us, not to an agency and not to a third party. Nothing further is required from you at that point.
It gets scored
This is the filter. Far more people are turned away at this stage than at any other, and that is the reason the training on the other side is worth having.
Selection
If you move forward, we contact you about next steps. Most applicants do not move forward — that is the honest shape of a selective program.
If it is a no.
Most applicants are turned away, so it is worth saying plainly: it is about this process at this moment. It is not a judgment on your ceiling, and it is not a character verdict. Plenty of capable people are turned away because the fit was wrong, not because they were.
The hour you spent was not wasted either. The assessment is built out of the actual work — how you break down an unfamiliar problem, how plainly you write, what you do when the standard runs out. Those are the things that get people hired anywhere, and you now know considerably more about where yours stand than you did an hour ago.
A remote job that asks for an hour should have to prove itself.
Remote hiring is full of fraud, and the honest version of this process looks superficially like the dishonest one. So here is how to check us, including how to catch someone using our name who is not us.
We never ask for money
Not an application fee, not a training fee, not a deposit for equipment. Not at any stage, for any role. Anyone asking you for payment in our name is not us.
Two domains, and that is all
truporchhomes.com and hiring.truporchhomes.com. Any other address using our name — however close it looks — is not ours.
No bank details before an offer
We do not need your bank account, your national ID, or a copy of your passport to assess you. Nothing in the assessment asks for them.
You are applying to us directly
There is no agency and no middleman between you and TruPorch. TruPorch Homes, LLC is a real company operating real homes in metro Atlanta, Georgia.
One thing that trips people up: our legal entity is TruPorch Homes, LLC, and it also does business as Yankee Homes, so that name turns up on some paperwork and payment pages. Both are us. If something does not look right, write to info@truporchhomes.com and ask before you act on it.
The ones people actually ask.
Is it really free?
Yes, at every stage, for every role. If you are ever asked to pay for anything connected to a job here, it is not coming from us.
Can I pause and come back?
Plan not to. Set aside the full time in one block — the assessments run between about 25 and 55 minutes depending on the role.
What if my connection drops?
Start again on a stable connection rather than pushing through on a bad one. A half-finished assessment tells us very little.
Can I use AI to help me answer?
You can, and it will not help you. We are reading for how you think, and borrowed reasoning reads exactly like borrowed reasoning.
I picked the wrong assessment. What now?
Take the right one. We would rather see you assessed against the role you actually want.
What if I am not selected?
Most applicants are not. It is about this moment and this process — not a verdict on what you are capable of. Plenty of capable people are turned away because the fit was wrong, not because they were.
